History

First written reference about Kosice comes from 1230. Kosice was the first European city to receive royal warrant for a coat of arms. Having in mind monuments like St. Elizabeth's Cathedral in it's city center, there is a lot to explore.

Museums

Museum of Eastern Slovakia (Vychodoslovenské múzeum), was originally established in 1872 under the name of the Upper Hungarian Museum and hosts many seasonal and traditional exhibitions including Kosice Gold Treasure. Slovakia's Technical Museum and East Slovak Gallery are definitely worth visiting too.
